The recent improvements to the New Player Experience - the new Opportunity system (http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/opportunities-abound-the-new-player-experience/) - are now, February 26th, 2015, available on the Tranquility live server to some players as this system is gradually introduced.
The new Opportunity system enables especially new players to explore EVE Online in a more intuitive, focused and non-linear way. New players are introduced to Opportunities in the game universe that they can investigate and complete. Each Opportunity consists of a set of tasks which must be completed to finish the Opportunity. Each task will have some explanation of how it can be completed.
Those changes are especially valuable for new players, but even veteran players might learn the one or other thing!
